Full investor data room or pitch-deck tracking
Ellty vs DocSend
DocSend began as a way to send a deck by link and see who opened it. Ellty is a full virtual data room with Q&A, folder permissions and AI features. Founders often start with a tracked deck and need a full room once a lead investor asks for diligence.

Who should choose which
- A lead investor has asked for full diligence (legal, financial, cap table)
- You need a Q&A log and folder-level permissions
- You want one flat monthly price for the whole team
- You want AI help to index and summarise documents
- You only need to share a pitch deck and see page-by-page views
- Each sender works alone and per-user pricing is fine
- You do not need Q&A, bulk upload or file-level download rules yet
How investors see it
Investors are used to both. A deck link is normal for a first look; a lead investor at Series A or later expects a structured room with numbered folders and the ability to ask questions in one place.

Flat and per-user totals use each vendor's published entry price. "Estimate" rows do not publish a price; the range is our market band for the project you picked, not a quote from that vendor. All prices in USD, indicative, before tax.
Check before you decide
- Ask both vendors for the price of your exact project in writing.
- Invite a test investor and confirm view-only and watermarks work as described.
- Export the activity log from each and compare the detail.
- Ask for the SOC 2 report or ISO 27001 certificate if your LPs will ask.
Ellty vs DocSend FAQ
Is DocSend a virtual data room?
DocSend offers "Spaces" for sharing several files with tracking, which works as a light data room. It does not list a Q&A module, bulk upload with folder structure, redaction or file-level view and download rights in our facts file.
Which is cheaper for a startup round?
DocSend is priced per user from about $45 a month; Ellty is a flat $149 a month for the room. With three or more people on the founder side, the flat price is usually lower. Try both in our pricing calculator.
Can I move from DocSend to a data room mid-raise?
Yes. Keep the deck link for first meetings and invite investors who move to diligence into the room. Use the same file names so links in your emails still make sense.
